I am one of the few folks who can literally say, “I was born on a dark and stormy night.” I came into this world in the eye of a midwestern blizzard. I guess since birth I’ve always been on the lookout for a great story!
I have been teaching communications, public speaking, and media literacy at the college level for 15 years. I love working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, and being in the community college environment helps me do just that.
My greatest honor has been receiving the Phi Theta Kappa Excellent in Teaching award because I was selected by students, during the pandemic, which means I was able to make a difference during a time when we were all struggling. I have also won the B. Ray Henry Service Award and the Outstanding Faculty of the Year award both at Jefferson College.
When I’m not running Clarity Geek, I work with the wonderful folks at the Awareness Institute where I serve as their Communication Specialist. You can also catch me performing, speaking, and working behind the camera all around St. Louis.
I live in Eureka, Missouri with my husband, Matthew, my daughter Fia, and entirely too many animals.
Why “Clarity Geek”?
A few people have said, “well I’m not into superheroes or anything so… I am not a geek.
Yes you are!
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a Geek is one who “is knowledgeable about and obsessively interested in a particular subject.”
Well not only am I a geek about clear communication, but I also love other people’s geekiness. I think passion and enthusiasm are transformative, and my job is to help the geeks, nerds, and weirdos who love their “thing” find their voice. tell their story and change the world.
So, let’s geek out about your thing together!
